This concise police show about rookie British cops in Belfast balances great characters with relentless suspense—all the while pulling our sympathies back and forth in different directions. Incredible development of plot and characters in a remarkably short amount of time. If you need to work your way up to The Wire, start here. Season Two is just about as good as Season One.
