Groundhog Day

Ramis, Harold, director

Medium:

Movie

Commentary

What if you were stuck in a time warp and had to repeat the same day over and over again? This silly premise gets some momentum from the comic presence of Bill Murray, the rom-com counterpoint of Andie McDowell—and ultimately turns into something else altogether. One of those rare movies that can make you laugh while you’re watching it but also make you think long after the film is over.

Notes

Russian Doll is an entertaining riff off of the original Groundhog Day concept, with Natasha Lyonne as the charming-but-problematic protagonist.
