During the Cold War, a low-ranking member of the Stasi in East Germany is assigned to surveil a dissident playwright and his artistic circle. Gradually he finds himself getting more and more fascinated by their bohemian lives, which starts to put him in danger. Beautifully done exploration of feeling a common humanity under inhuman conditions.
